Background: The purpose of this study was to assess the level of uncertainty, to evaluate postoperative selected health outcomes, and to determine the relationship between the level of uncertainty and postoperative selected health outcomes among patients undergoing CABG Surgery.
Methodology: A descriptive correlational study of 208 cardiac patients was carried out through a convenient sampling technique. Four adapted questionnaires were used. The correlation coefficient was applied.
Results: The findings of the current study revealed a moderate level of uncertainty in illness among patients undergoing CABG surgery. Moreover, a statistically significant correlation is observed between the level of uncertainty and postoperative health outcomes namely mental health and readiness to discharge.
Conclusion: The current study may be significant to healthcare professionals to establish standards of practice for patients undergoing cardiac surgery to lessen the negative impact of uncertainty on postoperative health outcomes
