Abstract

AbstractAmong the prose genres of Urdu, the narrative was the genre which has been getting priority in terms of quality and quantity in the traditional genres. Dasan is a genre of traditional narrative that is full of supernatural events. This genre has little relation to the political and social life of real people. It depends on supernatural elements and events. After the War of Independence in 1857, when the Indian society entered the industrial era and there was a significant change in political and social values, sources of income began to be associated with industry and crafts instead of agriculture. Fictional and supernatural stories and characters began to be replaced by real stories and real characters. Now it was time to sit around the bonfire and listen to stories for many nights. Its place was taken by the genre of the novel. The novel is the genre that took Urdu literature out of imaginary stories and put it on the path of realism.
