The Effect of Personality Testing in Academic Setting with Reference to Accounting Under Graduate Students in Coimbatore

Abstract

The study proposes using personality analysis tools to predict job fitment and performance prospect of current under graduate accounting students. Academia is striving hard to imbibe professional skillsets to the students. However, there is wide slit that differentiates Performing accounting managers and students. This difference is commonly stamped as experience or exposure. The study tries to technically analyse the technical skill sets, that can be given by practice in the curriculum. The study intends to use Personality Analysis test – Leading Dimensions Profile (LDP Test). In order to juxtapose the personality traits of Performing accounting managers in Accounting Firms and undergraduate accounts students, and to identify the spectrum of change that can be proposed to the curriculum, the study takes a sample of 100 Managers and 85 students. With 86 managers and 61 students as respondents, the prime observation shows that there is a significant variation among performing accounting managers and undergraduate pupil portraying that the undergraduate accounting pupil and performing accounting managers have variant perspectives in understanding the accounting firms. Since the students intend to go to the accounting industry, a need in eliminating the gap is showcased.
