Abstract

Khas wa Khashak Zamanay" is an Urdu novel from Pakistan published in 2010 written by the famous writer Mustansar Hussain Tarar. The way of life of the people is shown. Apart from this, the life of the people who come from the villages in search of employment and their difficulties are made the subject. In this story, some people from Dunyapur come to the Lahore vegetable market and sell all their goods here. They go back to their village by the evening train. These people belong to the Jat community who consider themselves as chiefs and consider Kashmiris and lower caste people inferior. Such people are the subjects of this story. It has been created by those who come to the city to look for employment and during this time they have to face many problems. When they find work in the city and when they settle in the city, they have to open their villages. The smell of house and dung is remembered.

"Khas Wa Khashak Zamany" can be said to be a document of Pakistan which describes the moral and cultural values of Pakistani society and its changing attitudes. The story spread over has been narrated. The story of this novel revolves around village Nat Kalan of Gujranwala. Written about the partition of the subcontinent, this novel describes the bitter historical facts that are not liked to be discussed and debate on these topics is not encouraged.

This novel by Mustansar Hussain Tarar has been written far away from the traditional themes. During the time of"Khas wa Khashak Zamanay", he has included many such topics in the novel which are considered wrong to talk about in Pakistan. These topics include the partition of India, illegitimate children, consumption of dead animals, to some extent slavery and homosexuality, western lifestyle and prostitution, as well as migrant families and living conditions. The anti-Islamic attitudes that arose after the events of 9/11 are also included.
